Mifo S, the newest TWS from Mifo.
Inside, each earpiece carries a single full-range balanced armature driver with 6 Active Noise Cancelling microphones.
It is important to note that this model belongs to a sub-company part of Mifo, called Sport&Outdo(S&O) but to avoid confusion among our readers, the model will be referred as Mifo S.
With 2 Active Noise Cancelling modes and a Transparency mode, the mifo S seems well adapted for most everyday activities – additionally, the model offers a dedicated low latency mode and a sleep mode.
The Mifo S are marketed as a TWS for sports and for sleeping; by design, the marketed target seems to be covered thanks to it’s tiny size, incorporated wings, very high IP67 waterproof rating that allows them to be used while swimming.
Despite the minuscule size, the mifo S are able to provide 6 hours of playback time on a single charge and up to 34 hours with the combined charges of the case.
Moreover, the back plates of this Mifo TWS are touch sensitive, allowing all functions to be fully controlled by simple touches – a satisfying beep noise will confirm and give feedback of every touch input.

Bass & Sub Bass
The mifo S has a massive mid bass punch that is so boosted that is able to saturate any track when bass is present.
The response of this TWS is, unfortunately, unbalanced and excessively overcooked making it even non-advisable to bass-only headphone seekers – a very unlucky tuning result.
Though it is fair to highlight that the brand markets this model as a “Powerful bass” earphone.

Mids & Vocals
The massively boosted and loose bass steps over the whole midrange, giving no chance for male vocals, lower mids and females vocals to find any space on the sound signature.
In addition to this, there is a pronouncedly laid back tuning of the whole mid-range that enhances the congested feel.
It is very unfortunate that mifo did not nail the tuning of such a nicely build and good looking earphone.

Highs & Treble
With a boosted highs and a contrasting extreme cut-off after 7.5Hz, the highs and treble of the mifo S sound simply wrong – becoming nearer to a call center headset than to a music listening headphone.
It is a great pity that an earphone with such a promising design has fallen so short in the sound department.

Sound Isolation
The mifo S has a better than average passive isolation and comes bundled with active noise cancelling that can exponentially empower its cancelling capabilities.
In fact, the mifo S showed a measured noise cancellation level of -35dB when set to it strong ANC mode.
In addition to this, the transparency mode exhibited a clear improvement of the awareness of the environmental sounds.

Comfort
A tiny, curvy form factor is instantly seen on the mifo S.
This small footprint combined with the earhooks and a flush fit result in a superb level of comfort that is hardly matched by other TWS on the market.
Moreover, the brand has incorporated touch controls that are very responsive, adding a further layer of comfort to it’ s usage.

EQ
Response to Equalization
There was not much that could be done by any EQ to fully compensate the uneven and unproportionally V-shaped tuning of the mifo S but with a very finely tuned custom EQ, the Mifo S can start to recover from the tuning mess and sound much more normal and acceptable – by a huge margin.

The Mifo S certainly have a superb design, build quality and features but, unfortunately, suffer from a massive tuning problem and extremely excessive V-shape sound.
We hope that the brand fully retune this TWS and come up with a future model with the same size, looks, form factor, features and build.
