? FiiO BTA10, a Bluetooth adapter for the Audio-Technica ATH-M50 series.
The FiiO BTA10 features a Qualcomm QC3005 Bluetooth chip, a built-in TPA6132A2 amplifier, Bluetooth v5.0, an AK4376A DAC, a Qualcomm cVc Noise cancellation microphone and support for wireless lossless audio codecs.
The FiiO BTA10 is a dedicated accessory that converts the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x and the Audio-Technica ATH-M50 into wireless Bluetooth headphones – this FiiO model will only fit these headphones.
Audio-Technica already offers a Bluetooth version of the M50x (the Audio-Technica ATH-M50xBT), but the M50x wired version is the one that carries the largest amount of owners. Now with the FiiO BTA10, M50x owners can get the wireless benefits of the M50xBT without having to spend $200.
The FiiO BTA10 is the latest Bluetooth amp from the brand being released just after the FiiO BTR3 and the FiiO BTR1K.
On the last months our team has reviewed every latest release from FiiO and none of them has disappointed, we hope that the FiiO BTA10 conserves the same standards as the previous devices from the brand.

Accessories & Packaging
The FiiO BTA10 unboxing results in the the unit itself and a charging cable.
As this is a Bluetooth adapter we were not expecting a massive amount of accessories nor as many as with the FiiO FA7 and FiiO M9.
The device comes inside a small and square packaging, pretty much the same as the FiiO BTR3 and FiiO BTR1K.

D
Design
The FiiO BTA10 has been specially designed and constructed to fit the Audio-Technica ATH-M50 series.
FiiO did a good job conserving the aesthetics of the M50x while building the FiiO BTA10. In fact, the design and materials used are so similar that you could think that the BTA10 was built by Audio-Technica.
Weighting only 18.5g, the FiiO BTA10 is even lighter than the FiiO BTR3 and FiiO BTR1K.

Construction & Build
The Audio-Technica ATH-M50x is not a headphone famous for having the most robust build on the market but it is neither a flimsy headphone. The FiiO BTA10 has the exact same construction quality and plastics material of the ATH-M50x making it logical with the design and aesthetics.
To be honest, we find it to be a smart decision by FiiO as if having designed an adapter with metal like the FiiO K3 or a combination of glass + metal like the FiiO BTR3 would had disrupted the seamless adaptation with the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x and added unnecessary weight.
The whole unit and the buttons are build with plastic with the 2.5mm plug being the single metal piece.

Sound
The FiiO BTA10 is not the first ever created Bluetooth adapter for the Audio-Technica ATH-M50 series but the main difference is that you will get the same trustworthy sound quality of the FiiO BTR line, as the FiiO BTA10 inherited the Qualcomm QC3005 Bluetooth chip from the FiiO BTR1K and the Amp from the FiiO uBTR (TPA6132A2).
Through the FiiO BTA10 soundtests, the device was able to welcome our editors with a clean and pure sound.
Differently to unbranded Bluetooth adapters for the ATH-M50x, the FiiO BTA10 conserves the same sound of the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x with the exact same sonic characteristic and sound signature as it shows while used wired.
This is mainly because the FiiO BTA10 has a flat and neutral sound that does not add nor dials down any frequency range.
Moreover, the sound coming out of the FiiO BTA10 preserves the sound personality of the ATH-M50x with no warming, cooling nor darkening over the audio spectrum. The only difference is as cutoff above 20.000Hz, but anything above this range is inaudible.
Regarding power output and driving capabilities of the FiiO BTA10; through out our test the BTA10 could drive the M50X without struggling, though if you are a listener enjoying ear-deafening listening sessions, expect the need of cranking the BTA10 all the way up.
