The ELEGOO Jupiter SE might be a big printer but it, still, comes almost fully pre-assembled from factory, needing to fix the build plate in place and removing just a couple of foam and film protections.

In comparison to other 3D resin printers from ELEGOO, the only extra assembly step will be putting the cover handles in place.

It is noteworthy that despite the size of the machine, the brand was able to build and pack the machine completely assembled.

DESIGN

The ELEGOO Jupiter SE is the 3D resin printer from the brand with the biggest printing volume capacity with an insane maximum print size of up to 277.848 x 156.264 x 300 mm³ (10.94×6.15×11.81 inches); this printing capacity even sits above the volume that many modern 3D FDM printers can reach.

Of course, to provide such a large printing volume, the ELEGOO Jupiter SE is a larger machine than other 3D resin printers with smaller printing capacity; yet this new evolved Jupiter model has been highly optimized and redesigned to be way smaller and lighter than the Jupiter (non-SE) but without losing printing volume.

As a matter of fact, the new ELEGOO Jupiter SE weights 15.3 kg less than the previous model and is smaller by 43.1×2.6×70.5 mm³.

Aesthetically, the ELEGOO Jupiter SE has a clean, non-tacky design and looks like a bigger sibling of the ELEGOO Saturn 3 that we have reviewed some time ago, with a combination of black, grey and red colors but having now also a cream-white strip section on the bottom of the lower case.

The printer has a red-colored, removable shield cover that filters UV light to protect the resin while resting on the resin tank or introducing premature solidification of the resin while printing.

Since this cover is much larger and heavier than any other Saturn and Mars printers, the cover of the Jupiter SE comes with two handles that are screwed to the lateral edges to facilitate lifting and removing the cover with less effort.

Shape-wise, the Jupiter SE has a cube, rectangular form factor with a higher than wider shape extension; the exact dimensions of the ELEGOO Jupiter SE are 479.9mm(L)*377.4mm(W)*657.5mm(H) and weights 19.5 kg.

DISPLAY SCREEN

On the center section of the lower front panel, the ELEGOO Jupiter SE has a touch sensitive screen with a diameter of 3.5 inches.

The screen uses the same UI seen on the ELEGOO Saturn 3, which offers multi-colored icons, menus and large sharp fonts to be intuitive and easy to use.

During a printing job, the screen will let users see details in real-time like print time, remaining time, progress, layers info, file name, preview of the design, etc.

The ELEGOO Jupiter SE can be defined as an offline 3D resin printer, meaning that the machine prints pre-sliced files from Udisks connected to the USB port of the printer but it does not have an integrated wireless module to connect to a device through a WiFi connection.

This is similar to other ELEGOO printers like the ELEGOO Neptune 4 PRO and ELEGOO Saturn 3.

To control the machine, access settings, configurations and printing files, the ELEGOO Jupiter SE relies on its touch screen, giving complete access to all leveling, z-axis controls, files navigation, printing parameters real-time override, etc.

CONSTRUCTION & BUILD

In spite of having gone through a significant slimming over the previous Jupiter model, the ELEGOO Jupiter SE has not scarified ruggedness nor construction quality, having a solid build feel with most of the machine using metal and no flimsy plastic pieces.

From the z-axis, frame and external shell panels, the machine shows its status of a flagship model built to work and support daily abuse.

Moreover, the printer is equipped with premium internal components such as its COB light, multi-fan cooling system, dual linear guide rail with metal construction and supporting rods, metal resin tank and full build plate unit.

To grant perfect adhesion and release of the prints, the machine includes a laser-carved building bed that is inline with the specs and quality of the bed seen on most other 3D resin printers from ELEGOO that we have reviewed so far.

Furthermore, the printer comes with a USB-pluggable active-carbon air filter to lower the odors from resin.

PERFORMANCE

On paper you might think that the extra printing volume against a Saturn or Mars series might not be too much but in real-life the difference is way bigger allowing an exponential boost in the size and amount of print/s that can be done on a single piece and/or single print job.

For example the much bigger area of the building plate and LCD provides the possibility of creating a much larger batch print on the same single printing task, thus reducing the total time needed to print a large batch of designs in less time.

Of course, the total volume capacity is the most attractive feature of the machine as you can create gigantic resin prints that you cannot even dream of printing with nearly any other commercial 3D resin printer on the market.

In spite of the massive print size capability, the ELEGOO Jupiter SE still is able to resolve fine micro detail with its 12.8″ 6K mono LCD that can provide resolutions of 5448×3064 (51um XY resolution), which granted surprisingly sharp and defined shapes on all the print tests that we did during the review of the machine.

At the beginning of the review we have listed among the accessories included, a resin feeder module; this is a revolutionary and exclusive addon part that the ELEGOO Jupiter SE has and no other resin 3D printer from ELEGOO offers.

This module automatically takes care of feeding resin directly from your resin bottle by resupplying the right amount of resin needed to keep the printing job running. This avoided over filling the resin tank and getting a failed printing job due to lack of the necessary resin quantity on the tank.

Emptying out the resin tank is one of the most tedious tasks of 3D printing and is prone to wasting/losing many milliliters of resin on the process but, this is another task fulfilled by the resin feeder module, automating the recycling, removal of resin from the tank back to the resin bottle, once the printing job has completed.

Probably the only drawback of the machine is that it does not have a fast printing mode to reach the printing speeds of the ELEGOO Saturn 3 Ultra and ELEGOO Saturn 4 Ultra but it shared the same 70mm/h of printing speed seen on the ELEGOO Saturn 4 and ELEGOO Saturn 3.

Nonetheless, the ELEGOO Jupiter SE included further features that surpassed the ease of use and leveling than other 3D resin printers, like the 4-point leveling bed design which required our team one single leveling attempt with no needed re-leveling, re-adjustment and perfect printing adhesion from the first to the last print tests.

PRINT QUALITY

To evaluate the full printing capability in height of the ELEGOO Jupiter SE, we printed an Angel sculpture design with a print height of 298mm – the print took 22:33 hours and was completed with remarkable detail and no errors throughout the printing job. The print was done with supports and hollowed with correct punching to optimize the consumption of resin.

To see the printing area capability of the build plate, we then proceeded to print another sculpture reproduction with an x-size of 275mm, taking 8:59 hours to fully print. The print was also done with supports, hollowed and punched.

To test the usefulness of its huge building plate area, we finally did a print batch including a full set of chess pieces printed in a single print job, which represents 32 chess pieces consisting 2x king, 2x queen, 4x rooks, 4x bishops, 4x knights, and 16x pawns printed in a single build plate an all at the same time.

The crazy 32 pieces for the full chess set took 4:32 hours to complete the print job; using supports, hollowed and punched.

POWER CONSUMPTION

Seeing such a large machine with the massive printing volume and LCD might make you think that you will get a beefy electricity bill when using the Jupiter SE; instead, the machine consumes only a maximum of 180W with its 24V 7.5A power supply – which is exactly the same as the ELEGOO Saturn 3 Ultra.
