KB EAR KB06
| 2x Balanced Armature | 10 mm Dynamic Driver |
🎧 We are reviewing the KB EAR KB06, a tiny multi-driver earphone from the brand.
The KB EAR KB06 features 3 hybrid drivers per earpiece, that include a dual magnetic 10mm DD and 2 balanced armature drivers.
The exact models of the BA drivers are a 30095 and a 50060 – if you are keeping track of BA drivers in budget Asian earphones; these can be found in some TRN earphones, KZ earphones, CCA earphones and RevoNext earphones.
You can buy the KB EAR KB06 in black color (as the model being reviewed) or in cyan/silver.
The black model looks really good and makes it seem much more premium than their retail price. The silver one shows some “genealogic” roots relating them to the looks of some recent CCA and KZ earphones such as the:

The KB EAR KB06 has a main housings made of translucent resin and an aluminum back plate.
The back plate has a grid that suggests a open/semi-open back; other recent models with rear grids include the:
The KB BEAR KB06 has very punchy mid-bass with good depth but it is fair to say that their lower end will start to roll-off when getting into the lowest end of the sub-bass territory.
This roll-off, though, is not excessive as to make them an odd bass-sounding earphone.
Their mid-bass will provide a good tuning for listeners enjoying mid and upper bass boosted music listening sessions.
With an EQ, unexpectedly, their sub-bass showed a very pronounced deepening while a less noticeable enhancement of their mid-bass was exhibited.
The unamp’ed but EQ’ed personality showed a response that wasn’t expected according to their OTB sound, adding our extreme amplification and custom basshead equalization, the KB EAR KB06 took 45% of the maximum power of a FiiO A5, which continued to exponentially grow their intensity of both mid and sub-bass, even reaching a respectable basshead rumble and impact.
Nonetheless, do not get over-excited, they will not become as ear crushing as the Top bassheads.

The KB06 have very warm mids with acceptably contained mid-bass bleed that can add some congestion to mid/upper bass-heavy tracks but will remain sufficiently clean on less-bassy songs.
Male vocals are relaxed but not overly distant, the degree of their “distance” will depend on the amount of bass on each track.
On the other hand, higher mids are more emphasized than their lower midrange which will help female vocals to sound more alive than their male vocals but can also add harsh peaks on tracks exhibiting spikes in these ranges.
An EQ can help to smooth and even out the overall midrange with a less congested and somewhat less hot sound – yet, do not expect miracles.
Highs on the KBEAR KB06 have a contrasting dual personality; a style that can be perceived sometimes as darkish yet showing sporadic spikes over their upper end.
As a consequence, their highs can easily catch and empower piercing peaks at times and on other occasions will just not pop-up – sibilant peaks showed the same tendency but less frequently. The main issue is that, when either fatiguing highs arise, they could get a bit too intense.
An EQ can be applied to open up (partially) their highs, making them better balanced.
Exactly like the RevoNext NEX602, the KB EAR KB06 proved that their rear grids are, indeed, part of a open/semi-open design and not aesthetic details.
This, of course, adds leakage to them but they remain somewhat inline with most normal closed-back earphones.

The tiny size and open back grid are design features that do not help to provide an isolation as strong as other very isolating earphones.
Yet, as with their leakage, their sound isolation is stronger than average earphones and much more noticeable than on typical open-back headphones.

The KB EAR KB06 offer flush fit, curvy edges and a super tiny size that reminded us to the dimensions of the KZ ZSA.
As a result, all these qualities, provide a phenomenally comfortable fit for long lasting listening sessions.
Moreover, their flush fit enables them to be used under helmets without adding pressure to the ears.

The response to EQ showed important effect over sub-bass and was able to clean part of their midrange and highs.
