The BLON BL-03 unboxing results in a soft pouch, 4 pair of eartips, a 3.5mm cap, a cable tightener and a detachable cable.

The tall, rectangular form factor and style of the box reminded us to how some TFZ earphones come packed.

The cable of the BLON BL-03 is black colored, with a single helix design and a girth slimmer than many cables bundled with other earphones in this price range.

The audio connector is L-shaped, which some users prefer over straight connectors.

Construction Quality and Build

The BLON BL-03 has housings entirely build in metal, resulting in a more rugged construction than plastic earphones, yet the brand was able to keep a remarkably light weight that is, even, lower than on many resin-build headphones.

The cable connections sections (2-pin, 3.5mm) are made of plastic, as well as the cable bifurcation.

Bass & Sub Bass

The BLON BL-03 has punchy and deep bass that, still, does not become bloated nor out of control.

Bassy genres will be a good combination for this earphone, yet when matched with music styles and tracks with a more balanced bass, the BLON BL-03 will adapt very well to respond with a less bass-centered sound and a cleaner profile.

BLON did a very good job conserving a fun and energetic lower end without drowning it’s sound signature.

If you are into modification and experimentation, fully blocking the vents of the BLON will show a prominent bass boosting, though we consider that you will messing up a well-balanced fun bass into a more bloated one and a style that can be easily found on many consumer earphones on the market.

With an EQ, very strong empowering of mid-bass punch and a much deeper sub-bass were noticed- expect a busier sound though.

Through out our extreme basshead tests, the BLON BL-03 managed to take up to 55% of a FiiO A5 max power, showing massive increment of both mid and sub-bass with, even, a very respectable basshead rumble and impact but not as intense as the top tiers Sony MDR-EX800st, Pioneer SE-CX8, Sony MDR-EX650, etc.

Mids & Vocals

The BLON BL-03 have warm mids and mild mid-bass bleed that adds coziness and fullness to their overall midrange.

In general, their lower mids do not sound congested and male vocals are not too distant.

In addition to this, higher mids are clear, while female vocals will sound sparkly and alive.

Regarding harshness, it could be said that they sit in between a frontier line that will make them show some harsh peaks when tracks are prone to them or when vocals are too shouty but will not be too much of a problem on less spiky tracks – always depending to each listener’s tolerance to harshness.

Using an EQ there is a very noticeable reduction of mid-bass bleed and lower mids cleaning up, without additional harshness.

Highs & Treble

The BLON BL-03 offers good brightness that does not sound too overdone, with an overall feel of fair smoothness but not dark and with very good detail retrieval.

Piercing and sibilant highs are medium-mild and will mostly not be perceived on tracks that do not show too emphasized peaks in these ranges.

In general, most of the team found the highs of the BLON BL-03 to offer a good balance for very varied music genres.

An EQ showed significant additional detail with a slight boost in brightness too but with no intensification of their fatiguing peaks.

Sound Leak

The sound leaking out of the BLON BL-03 is one of the less ideal subjects on their performance, leaking as much sound as many average earphones.

Before you get scared, this does not mean that they leak sound as an open-back headphone but they will not be well-adapted for environments where quietness is required (for example, libraries)

Sound Isolation

The sound isolation provided by the BLON BL-03 can provide efficient isolation from the environment; they will not bring absolute isolation but a noticeable amount as to not get disturbed during daily commuting.

Comfort

The BLON BL-03 have a particularly rounded form factor, with very curvy shapes and no single pointy nor sharp edge/angles. These design features make them one of the most comfortable earphones that many on our team has worn/tested.

Furthermore, the BLON BL-03 can fit deep and more than flush with the ears like few other earphones on the market, which makes them a great option for people using them under helmets or while resting the head on your hand or pillow.

Response to Equalization

The response to EQ of the BL-03 was prominent on bass empowering, lower mids cleaning up and highs added brightness/detail but could also enhance some of their flaws too.
