Kiwi Ears Airoso
| In-Ear | 5 Driver | Hybrid |
Kiwi Ears Airoso, one of the newest mid-tier in-ear headphones from Kiwi Ears.
The Kiwi Ears Airoso sits as a fairly affordable IEM model of the brand’s catalog, costing nearly 5 times less than their flagship models.
Inside each earpiece, the Airoso are equipped with a quint hybrid driver configuration that includes 4 balanced armature drivers and one dynamic driver (LCP and PU diaphragm); empowered by a custom crossover design.
The unit has a build combination of resin shell and an aluminum plate; this faceplate holds a small grid which might suggest that the brand has opted for some kind of semi-open back design.
The Kiwi Ear Airoso make use of bi-pin detachable cables, which are one of the most diffused type of cables next to MMCX.

B
Bass & Sub Bass
The lower end of the Kiwi Ears Airoso responded with good reach as to cover both mid-bass and sub-bass ranges without any “empty notes”
Mid-bass had a punchy and well-achieved fun personality, yet not being boomy nor excessively loose.
Sub-bass did not show any abrupt roll-off while answering with decent depth as to result in a balanced bass response.

M
Mids & Vocals
The midrange of the Kiwi Ears Airoso presented a warm and cozy flavor with low mids and male/deep pitched vocals that sounded full-bodied but never laid back nor congested.
On top of that, the lower midrange did not show mid-bass bleed.
The upper mids and female vocals were well tuned, with an alive response that did not turn into a harshness mess.
8.25/10
H
Highs & Treble
Similar to the midrange, the upper end of the spectrum was well-balanced with sufficient brightness as to get far from dark and muffled highs but, at the same time, not overly forward.
In fact, highs and treble did not suffer from sibilance nor piercing peaks.
In comparison with high-class premium headphones and our top-charters, the Airoso did not resolve as much micro-detail.
8/10

Sound Leak
Probably due to the sort of semi-open back design, the Kiwi Ears Airoso leak significantly more sound than most average closed-back headphones.
Using the Airoso for your music listening sessions in libraries will not be a wise choice but you could use them on your daily commuting as long as you do not crank up the volume.

SI
Sound Isolation
Isolation with this Kiwi Ears IEM is about average. When listening to music the isolation will be fair but, of course, do not expect the performance of a headphone with Active Noise Cancelling.

C
Comfort
The size of the Airoso is within the average of a multi-driver hybrid IEM, they will not be the smallest model that you can find on the market but they are neither overly oversized.
The lightweight and curved shapes, combined with the smooth resin construction and an angled nozzles ensured a comfortable experience for long sessions without introducing early fatigue.

EQ
Response to Equalization
With a balanced sound signature with neither forward nor recessed ranges, the Kiwi Ears Airoso was a perfect candidate for fine-tuning through custom equalization.
Indeed, the Airoso responded excellently to our EQ tests allowing to boost or tame any specific Hz range without introducing issues like boxy mids, fatiguing sound, etc.
