TFZ SERIES 2
| 12 mm Dual Magnetic Graphene Driver | N52 Neodymium |
🎧 We are reviewing the TFZ SERIES 2, a premium featured in-ear monitor with a budget-conscious price.
The TFZ SERIES 2 features strong N52 neodymium magnets, large 12mm dynamic drivers with a dual magnetic design and graphene diaphragms.
TFZ (also known as THE FRAGRANT ZITHER) is a young company founded in 2015 that, despite their brief time in the market, has created highly-spec’ed in-ear headphones that have gained a strong fascination by audio enthusiasts.
THE FRAGRANT ZITHER has created several models already, like the TFZ QUEEN, TFZ KING PRO, TFZ TEQUILA, TFZ TIGALAXY, TFZ MY LOVE II. Moreover, they offer two renowned lines the EXCLUSIVE and the SERIES, the TFZ SERIES 2 belongs to the latter (as the name suggests).
Their detachable cable system allows them to be easily converted into a wireless headphone by simply buying a bi-pin Bluetooth cable like this super affordable one.
TFZ has always gone the extra mile in the aesthetics department and the TFZ SERIES 2 is no exception. The SERIES 2 can be bought in 7 different colors:
- TFZ SERIES 2 – 001 Purplish Red
- TFZ SERIES 2 – 007 Crystal
- TFZ SERIES 2 – 008 Translucent Black
- TFZ SERIES 2 – 009 Black
- TFZ SERIES 2 – 010 Pink
- TFZ SERIES 2 – 005 Blue
- TFZ SERIES 2 – 006 Green
- 2 other colors were available some time ago but seem to be discontinued: Lake and Apricot yellow.

Accessories & Packaging
The TFZ SERIES 2 unboxing results in a cable clip, a soft carrying pouch, 4 pair of eartips with a deep profile and 3 pair with a narrow profile – these eartips come placed in an organizing/transport cardboard sheet. Everything comes inside a tall and thin rectangular shaped packaging with a solid construction that protects them well.
Bass & Sub Bass
The TFZ SERIES 2 is powerfully punchy and deep sounding with a confident bass response that can add body, fun and energy to absolutely every music genre.
Despite their strong bass style, TFZ managed to apply a nice cut-off at the upper-bass range that transitions into mids. By doing this they achieved a full bodied bass that still does not bleed into mids.
Applying an EQ, their mid-bass becomes very punchy and their sub-bass gets exponentially deeper.
During our extreme basshead tests the TFZ SERIES 2 managed up to 50% of a Fiio E12 Mont Blanc maximum power, transforming into an insanely punchy and deep sounding IEM that reaches basshead territory with impact and rumble way above the KZ ATE, Xiaomi Mi Pro HD and almost entering our Top Basshead Chart but yet below the Sony MDR-EX800st, Sony MDR-EX650 and Pioneer SE-CX8.

Mids & Vocals
The TFZ SERIES 2 mids offer a good balance of warm sound but clear vocals. Lower vocals are energetic, alive and non distant sounding at all. Mid-bass bleed is fairly absent allowing their lower mids to be relatively free of congestion. Higher mids and female vocals sound crisp and clear but can risk to reach some harshy peaks at extreme notes. Overall, their mids are fantastically achieved.
Using an EQ for the mids of the TFZ SERIES 2, they can be fine tuned to any kind of listeners preference. If you want to spice up their vocals, reduce mid-bass and feed up their higher mids they will respond phenomenally and if you decide to go the absolute opposite direction and would like to smooth out their mids and lower down any harsh potential, the TFZ SERIES 2 will not disappoint.
Highs & Treble
The TFZ SERIES 2 highs are bright, open-sounding and resolve a good amount of detail. Similar to their mids, these TFZ in-ear monitors have a firm response that is not tuned to be shy. As expected, this kind of tuning shows up sibilant and piercing peaks. Treble sensitive people might find them too sharp.
With an EQ, their highs become super bright and provide even more detail. If you are willing to play around with a more complex EQ, you will be able to achieve the aforementioned effect without empowering their sibilance and piercing peaks.
The sound leaking out of the TFZ SERIES 2 is inline with most average in-ear headphones. If you crank up the volume to the top, they will be somewhat hearable by nearby people but only in less noisy than normal situations.

Response to Equalization
The response to EQ of the TFZ SERIES 2 was impeccable. Bass could be pushed into basshead territory, highs become definitely brighter and more detailed with the possibility to reduce their fatiguing appearance and mids could be tuned in any direction.
