The BQEYZ BQ3 features a 5 drivers per side with an hybrid configuration of 3 balanced armatures and 2 dynamic drivers – truly, the DDs is a 10mm coaxial double-layer driver.

With the BQEYZ KB3, the brand is pushing the limits of premiumly-spec’ed earphones at a insanely cheap selling price, that in the recent time was a market monopolized by KZ with models such as the, KZ AS10, KZ ZS10, KZ ZS6, KZ BA10 (read our KZ BA10 review)

You might be wondering why we are calling this model with 2 names. The BQEYZ BQ3 was initially sold/promoted as BQEYZ KB3, the final official name seems to be BQEYZ BQ3 according to the writing on the bottom of the earpieces and the packaging – through out the review we might refer to it with either name and we will be always talking about the same model.

The housings are fully built in metal with a rugged and hefty construction, inline with all BQEYZ headphones (so far). The footprint of the BQEYZ BQ3 is similar to the BQEYZ KC2 and BQEYZ K2 (models that we have reviewed in the past) but with a different aesthetic design.

The lower bottom of the housings have a recessing end (like a ditch) and a silver rim.

If you are a Monoprice fan, you will notice that the new Monoprice Quintet is extremely similar in design, aesthetics, drivers configuration, cable and technical specifications. In fact, it wouldn’t be strange that the Monoprice Quintet would simply be a rebranded BQEYZ BQ3.

Bass & Sub Bass

The BQEYZ BQ3 have a solidly deep sub-bass and a, general, bass style tuned to fulfill even the most bass-hungry tracks. Their mid-bass is also very powerful, yet neither sub and mid-bass are too boosted nor out of control.

This lower frequencies tuning gives them a fun and energetic response that somehow manages to sound fairly clean and entertaining.

Applying an EQ, a huge sub-bass depth can be revealed and some beefier punch too.

Mids & Vocals

The BQEYZ BQ3 mids are warm and cozy with relaxed but not distant male vocals. Lower mids exhibit some congestion because of upper bass frequencies extending slightly over the lower midrange but it is more of warming effect than a congestion mayhem.

Higher mids are crisp but not forward, which grant a clear sound yet not too harsh.

With an EQ it is possible to reduce most of the mid-bass bleed and clear up their lower midrange (and vocals). Higher mids can be boosted a bit to get some extra crispness but we recommend to leave them non-eq’ed or to apply a gentle amount of +dBs to avoid harshness.

Highs & Treble

The BQEYZ BQ3 highs resolve a nice amount of detail and are fairly bright. Nonetheless, their highs tend to roll-off on the treble end making their highs less aggressive.

Despite this, their highs result in a sufficiently bright (not as bright as earphones such as the Senfer EN900, Senfer DT8 or RevoNext QT3) and rarely fatiguing sound. In fact, sibilance will hardly ever be perceived with the BQEYZ BQ3.

Overall, their highs will be welcomed by listeners who enjoy some brightness and detail but prefer to get smoother, non-fatiguing peaks than the brightest highs.

An EQ can push up their treble compensating their rolled-off personality and providing a highs performance way better balanced, more open sounding and brighter.

Sound Leak

The sound leaking out of the BQEYZ BQ3 is noticeably less strong than on most average earphones.

This will allow listeners to, safely, crank up the volume without risking to disturb nearby people.

Sound Isolation

The sound isolation provided by the BQEYZ BQ3 is efficient, providing a subdued perception of your surroundings no matter how low the volume is set.

Listeners intending to dial up their music listening volume will be granted a nearly absolute isolation.

Comfort

The weight and fit of the BQEYZ BQ3 is inline with the BQEYZ KC2 and BQEYZ K2, which we found it to be excellently comfortable but it is worthy to take into consideration that the housings now a bit larger than the aforementioned and may not be as comfortable for people with smaller than average ears.

The cable of the BQEYZ BQ3 is well-built and has a design/construction somewhat similar to the KZ ZS4, TFZ Series 2, TRN V80, TRN V20.
