The MEMT T5 features magnetic housings, metal construction and a big 14.2 mm dynamic driver.

Their metal construction is robust and has an industrial feel that seems to withstand a hard beating without issues. Every single piece of the units is built with the same excellent metal, like the cable bifurcation section and the L-stereo plug.

The cables of the MEMT T5 have a nice looking finish and a very rubberized material that reduces tangling problems. Inline you will find a 1-button remote/mic that is also made of metal and has the same color finish as the earpieces.

Bass & Sub Bass

Without Earwings

Using the MEMT T5 without the silicone “wings” their bass is energetic with strong punch and sufficient depth. Their sub-bass reaches good depth for an earbud but they cannot compete with the sub-bass of a profound sounding in-ear headphone.

With an EQ, their sub-bass gains a highly notable amount of depth and some extra punch is added.

With Earwings

Instead, if used with the silicone “wings” accessories their bass gains an insane makeover of both mid-bass and sub-bass with the most radical impact on depth.

Now, the MEMT T5 offers a crazy amount of mid-bass punch and reaches extremely profound sub-bass levels that can dethrone most earbuds and compete head-to-head with deep sounding in-ear headphones too.

Please note that the silicone accessory without the “wings” does not provide the same level of empowerment.

Applying an EQ, mid-bass and sub-bass vigorously punchy and deep, reaching unusual levels for an earbud.

Mids & Vocals

Without Earwings

Without the silicone “wings” the MEMT T5 mids are warm and offer present lower vocals that do not sound distant nor laid back despite some mid-bass bleed. Higher mids are crisp and clear but not harsh.

With an EQ, male vocals become clearer and higher mids crispier just be aware of not overdoing to avoid harshness and boxy sounding mids.

With Earwings

With the silicone “wings” the MEMT T5 mids become strongly warm, lower vocals and lower mids become congested due to a prominent increment of mid-bass bleeding. Higher mids still sound crisp but their overall mid-bass affects their clarity.

With an EQ vocals sound a bit less congested and higher mids gains some crispness.

Highs & Treble

Without Earwings

Without the silicone “wings” The MEMT T5 highs have good brightness (with a darkish tint) and resolve a bit of detail. They are well-balanced with a highs style that remains in between a bright and clear sound but not forward nor fatiguing.

An EQ makes their highs significantly more detailed and brighter.

With Earwings

With the silicone “wings” the MEMT T5 highs become dark and “choked” by the invasive boomy bass. All the good aspects of their highs are lost if used with the earwings but as a positive aspect, risk of piercing and sibilant peaks disappear completely.

An EQ restores a bit of brightness and lessens their overcrowded sound but they remain dark and congested nonetheless.

Sound Leak

By design earbuds tend to leak much more sound than an average in-ear headphone. The MEMT T5 is no exception but still their leaking levels are lower than most average earbuds.

The best isolation performance of the MEMT T5 is provided with the silicone earwings in place, due to a stronger seal there is also a higher isolation. They can provide something superior to most average earphones and a level way more efficient than most earbuds.

Comfort

As with sound, the MEMT T5 offers also 2 levels of comfort and security.

Without the earwings the MEMT T5 are more or less inline with most earbuds regarding their secure fit and ease of placement.

With the silicone earwings their fit becomes much more secure and their slippery style is completely removed thanks to the friction and adherence provided of the contact surface between the silicone material and the ear’s skin.

Response to Equalization

The response to EQ of the MEMT T5 was noticeably efficient (without the earwings), mids achieved a crispier sound, vocals become less congested, sub-bass depth was strongly added and highs benefited from brighter and more detailed sound.
