SENFER DT8
| 2x Balanced Armatures | 2x Dynamic Drivers |
? SENFER DT8, the latest quad-driver from the brand, launched after the high-performing SENFER EN900 (also a quad-driver headphone).
The SENFER DT8 model name refers to it’s 8 drivers (4 per side), in fact, they feature a quad-driver configuration consisting of 2 balanced armatures + 2 dynamic driver per side.
Reseller’s photos do not make justice to their construction quality and aesthetics. The SENFER DT8 are much more refined and good looking than they seem on stock/sellers photos and the construction quality is top notch with an all-metal build and robust feel.
The back section of the housings has 6 openings and a metal grid beneath, this suggest an open back design – we will find out later on if they are actually open or if this is an aesthetic detail.
The SENFER DT8 are very small size, smaller than the TRN V80, RevoNext QT3, BQEYZ K2, TFZ Series 2, AUGLAMOUR RT-1 , KZ ZS6 and much smaller than the KZ ZS10. To give s comparative idea of it’s tiny dimensions, they are kind of inline with models such as: KZ ZSA and KZ ZSE.
The cables are detachable and have MMCX connectors. Two cables are included, one is the same as on the SENFER EN900 with a rubberized finish and an inline remote/mic. The other cable included is a very nice custom-like cable with a double-helix design, lower microphonics, robust construction and reinforced connectors – somewhat approaching the style of the Yinyoo 6-core cable.
You can buy the SENFER DT8 in golden color.

Accessories & Packaging
The SENFER DT8 unboxing results in: 1x rubberized cable with remote/mic (straight MMCX connector), 1x cable clip, 4 pair of silicone eartips, 1 pair of foam tips, 1x double helix cable with reinforced angled connectors and low microphonics (relatively similar style to the Magaosi BK50 cable and way better than the cables of the KZ ED16, RevoNext QT2, TRN V20, KZ ZS5, KZ ES4)
Everything comes inside a simple box similar to the SENFER EN900 packaging but with a light color pattern.

B
Bass & Sub Bass
The SENFER DT8 bass is full-bodied with lot of mid-bass punch and very deep sub-bass. Their lower frequencies can provide as much bass as needed by absolutely any music genre and track. Despite their powerful bass, their mid-bass does not become boomy nor gets all over the place
Applying an EQ there is a very substantial increment of their mid-bass punch and sub-bass depth.
During our extreme basshead tests, the SENFER DT8 handled up to 40% of a FiiO E12 Mont Blanc amplifier (newer model is named FiiO A5) with an insane empowering of their mid-bass and sub-bass and a bit of rumble but far from being as impacting as the KZ ZSR, KZ ZST, Sony MDR-EX650, Monster Beats iBeats, AUKEY EP-C3.

Mids & Vocals
The SENFER DT8 lower mids exhibit some mid-bass bleed but this mainly adds warmth and coziness to their overall sound. Male vocals have a slightly relaxed feel to them but are far from being distant.
Higher mids are very crisp and clear with some harshy peaks at times.
With an EQ and dialing down transitional frequencies from bass to lower mids while also boosting lower mids and middle mids there is an impressive refinement of their mids with a hugely cleaner sound and total removal of mid-bass bleed, yet not becoming thin nor cold.
Higher mids are already nearly forward so it is highly advised to avoid boosting them.

Highs & Treble
The SENFER DT8 highs are very bright and resolve a big amount of detail. Senfer has built-up a strong reputation for their highs brightness and detail since the SENFER 4in1, later on confirming their reputation on the SENFER EN900 and now, once again, showing that their highs tuning is coherent with the brand style.
Despite their Senfer-styled highs they are not as forward as the aforementioned models and are rarely piercing, showing only mild sibilance.
With a custom EQ an impressive amount of detail is revealed while also making their highs remarkably open but not increasing their fatiguing peaks – if only EQ’ed above +/-10kHz.

SL
Sound Leak
Despite the open / semi-open back design of the SENFER DT8, their sound leaking levels remain fairly under control, with even a leakage strength slightly lower than many average headphones.

Sound Isolation
The sound isolation provided by the SENFER DT8 is perceivable but will not win any award in this area. The small size and non-sealed back reduces their capacity of isolating from surrounding noises.

Comfort
The housing’s curvy and smooth edges, plus their tiny size grants a pain-free fit and prolonged listening sessions with no worries about discomfort issues.
The metal construction and the 2 cables with very different design and materials permits a better selection for each listeners preferences.

Response to Equalization
The response to EQ of the SENFER DT8 is highly efficient in mids and highs frequencies, providing a phenomenal improvement of their sound with cleaner mids, no mid-bass bleed and superb detail and open sound.
