SWING EC1
| 2 Balanced Armatures | 1x Dynamic Driver |
? The SWING EC1 review is now part of ThePhonograph.net database.
The SWING EC1 features triple hybrid drivers with an specific configuration of 2 balanced armatures and 1 dynamic driver, the same number of drivers and advanced configuration found inside the KZ ZSR or 1MORE Triple Driver.
The cable is rounded, rubberized and has a black/golden pattern coloring. Inline you will find a remote/mic with 1 button that will allow you to play/pause songs and answer/reject calls; this mic/remote is compatible with Android and Apple devices.
The cable bifurcation and the 3.5mm plug section are made of metal with a golden finish. The piece that connects the cable to the housings might make you think that the SWING EC1’s cables are detachable, do not pull them out because they are fixed cables and are not replaceable.
The housings are built with metal materials, yet achieve to remain light-weighted. On the outer part of earpieces you will see several holes, this could be a sort of open-back design but we will evaluate this later on.
You can buy the SWING EC1 only in silver color.

B
Bass & Sub Bass
The SWING EC1 bass has strong mid-bass and good sub-bass depth. Their lower frequencies style is energetic, fun and full bodied yet not boomy. Do not expect a frail or anemic bass from these triple driver IEM.
Applying an EQ, their mid-bass adds a bit of punch and sub-bass gets insanely enhanced getting extremely deep.
Running the SWING EC1 through out our extreme bass tests, they were able to handle a maximum of 45% of a Fiio E12‘s power (custom basshead EQ, bass boost, high gain) with a crazy increment of punch and depth, reaching a mild basshead impact and rumble, more or less inline with the KZ ATE but far below the Sony MDR-EX650 or Senfer 4in1.

M
Mids & Vocals
Mids of the SWING EC1 are warm but suffer from mid-bass bleed that makes lower vocals congested. Higher mids are clearer, not too crisp and more often than not do not show harsh peaks.
With an EQ there is an important improvement of lower vocals and overall mids. Mid-bass bleed is still present but much weaker.

H
Highs & Treble
Highs of the SWING EC1 are very bright and detailed, though usually they do not become piercing. So far, the highs of these earphones showed an impeccable performance but, unfortunately, sibilance is substantially present when sibilant-prone peaks appear.
Using an EQ to boost their highs response is not a wise idea, they are already detailed and bright but you could use one to try to reduce their sibilance. We tested several combinations to “repair” their sibilant peaks; applying drastic dB’s reduction on the corresponding frequencies softened them a bit but still showed up.

SL
Sound Leak
Sound leaking out of these SWING earphones is somewhat stronger than on many average earphones. The sort of open back design that the holes on the earpieces suggested proved to be true, you can even place them reversed in you ears and you will clearly listen everything coming out of them.

Sound Isolation
Surrounding noises get noticeably subdued while wearing the SWING EC1 if you listen to music at anything above moderate-low volume. You can crank up the volume to the maximum and they will provide an absolute isolation but their strong output and sibilant highs will be an issue for your ear’s health.
7.75/10
C
Comfort
The angled nozzles and the durable but light-weighted construction results in a comfortable fit that ensures a secure placement inside the ears without generating pain. The housings may touch some parts of the ears depending of your ear’s dimensions and, despite having smooth edges, will make you fill the cold temperature of the metal materials in winter.

EQ
Response to Equalization
The response to EQ had some very responsive frequencies but failed to tune their highs.
Bass benefited from insane sub-bass depth, mids welcomed a much needed help and amelioration of their lower vocals and mid-bass bleed. On the other hand, with any EQ customization applied their sibilant highs were always present.

Summary
- ✅ Very bright and detailed highs
✅ Fun and energetic bass
✅ Metal housings
- ❌ Congested lower mids and lower vocals
❌ Frequent sibilant highs
❌ EQ does not remove sibilance
❌ Higher than average sound leakage
❌ Not the best bang for buck out there
- The SWING EC1 have a complex triple driver hybrid configuration and a controversial performance. Overall they are good earphones but with clear flaws, some of their audio frequencies showed an excellent performance while others failed to keep up. If you can live with (or do not care about) their sibilant peaks and congested mids, you could be happy with their very bright and detailed highs and fun bass.
