The FANTECH Helios II PRO S is the newest upgraded version of the FANTECH HELIOS II PRO XD3 V3, incorporating better performance, specs and new build elements.

As we mentioned in the intro of the review, the FANTECH Helios II PRO S is an upgraded model over the older FANTECH HELIOS II PRO XD3 V3; as so, the FANTECH Helios II PRO S vs FANTECH HELIOS II PRO XD3 V3 are nearly identical in form factor, size, shape and style.

The FANTECH HELIOS II PRO S is an ergo-mouse with a larger size than egg-shaped mouses (like the Zaopin Z1 Pro, FANTECH Aria XD7) but with the typical 6-button design seen on most modern gaming mice.

The variant that we are reviewing is the black model which offers a clean, all-black body and clickers with grey-colored accents seen on the wheel and side buttons and a minimalistic brand and model printing over the edge and back of the case.

The bottom of the mouse has a perforated, grid-style to keep help reducing the overall weight of the mouse. Here you will also find a 3-way switch for the connection mode and a programmable DPI button.

Furthermore, the FANTECH HELIOS II PRO S inherits the light weighted design of many Fantech gaming mouses, with barely 55 grams.

The FANTECH HELIOS II PRO S is not only an aesthetically upgraded version of the older sibling; instead, the new FANTECH HELIOS II PRO S is now able to reach 8000Hz of polling rate and sports a brand-new, superior Nordic 52840 ARM Cortex MCU and the same PIXART 3395 sensor.

The ABS plastics of the FANTECH HELIOS II PRO S vs FANTECH HELIOS II PRO XD3 V3 feel nearly the same but with the exception of clearly different coating applied to each model, being the FANTECH HELIOS II PRO S smoother and less textured.

Some uses might fear that the less-textured finish will provide a more slippery surface, instead the brand did a good job with the upgrade as the finish provides a way more grippy performance than the older model.

The mouse presents a solid but light construction that does not show traces of weak, wobbly nor rattling parts.

On top of the new MCU, the switches have also been upgraded on the new FANTECH HELIOS II PRO S, being assembled with Huano Blue Transparent Shell Pink Dot mechanical switches, ditching the optical switches of the previous generation.

Another clear upgrade of the FANTECH HELIOS II PRO S vs FANTECH HELIOS II PRO XD3 V3 is a finely retuned resistance of the scroll wheel, being now a tad heavier. This adds a better control of each rotational step and avoids any possible accidental input over the wheel.

Nonetheless, the FANTECH HELIOS II PRO S preserves the same level of tactile feedback per notch on the wheel and a similar sound profile on its button press.

The FANTECH HELIOS II PRO S is a tri-mode mouse, meaning that you can use the mouse with 3 different connectivity options:

• Bluetooth
• Wired
• 2.4G wireless

To benefit of the high-performance 2.4G wireless connection, the FANTECH HELIOS II PRO S comes bundled with an 8K 2.4G wireless dongle without needing to purchase it as an extra addon. This allows users to benefit from class-leading 8000Hz of polling rate, out-of-the-box and with no added charge.

Instead, using the mouse with BT does not require any additional dongle.

The mouse can also be used wired through its detachable USB-C connector and the braided cable that comes bundled with the unit.

The FANTECH HELIOS II PRO S showed the same level of wireless connection stability and reliability as with other mouses that we have reviewed from them.

The large front and back skates plus the dedicated rounded skate around the sensor combine to provide outstandingly snappy and fast sliding due to an efficiently low friction of these skates.

Despite the blazing fast speed, the FANTECH HELIOS II PRO S also proved to be able to be highly precise in all type of tracking tasks and micro-movement accuracy.

The FANTECH HELIOS II PRO S will come set to 1000Hz polling rate from factory but you can enable the superior 8K polling rate through the software and paired with the 8K dongle.
