? Yinyoo Topaz, a penta-driver headphone with solid build.

The Yinyoo Topaz features an hybrid driver configuration with 4 balanced armatures, a 10mm dynamic driver and a 4-way electronic crossover.

At first sight, the most evident aesthetic detail of the Yinyoo Topaz is it’s back plate design, with a diamond-like shape.

The housings of the Topaz are build with aerospace-grade aluminum, something that has been previously seen on the Yinyoo D2B4.

The cables are detachable and use 2-pin connectors, same kind of connector that can be found in other in-ears such as the: KZ ZS10 PRO, CCA C16, KZ ZSN PRO, RevoNext QT5, TRN V30, CCA C10.

You can buy the Yinyoo Topaz in in a more classic grey color with a pearled finish or in a more flashy (not too flashy, though) gold colored one.

Bass & Sub Bass

The Yinyoo Topaz bass is well rounded with a punchy mid-bass and good sub-bass depth. For picky listeners, their mid-bass might show some bounciness but is not excessive and, still, achieves a sufficiently controlled response as to avoid becoming an over-boosted sounding earphone.

Overall, we found their bass response to be pleasant, energetic but fairly fast and very versatile.

Applying an EQ, a very important deepening of its sub-bass can be achieved with, also, some punchier mid-bass.

Through our basshead tests, the Yinyoo Topaz managed up to 37.5% of the maximum power fed by a FiiO A5, resulting in an exponential increment of both punch and depth but do not expect any basshead rumble nor impact.

Mids & Vocals

The Yinyoo Topaz mids have laid back and very warm male vocals but do not exhibit too much mid-bass bleed nor excessive congestion.

Their relaxed male vocals will fit listeners/tracks that do not require deep vocals to be forward-sounding.

Higher mids and female vocals are not rolled-off nor distant, with clear and crisp sound.

The Yinyoo Topaz offers a smooth midrange with no annoying peaks nor harshness – at all.

Expect pleasant overall mids while avoiding muddy and muffled sound issues.

A correctly customized EQ can show an extreme makeover of the Yinyoo Topaz midrange, making them remarkably clean and clear with absolute removal of any congestion and retuning their male vocals with an alive presence yet without becoming boxy. At the same time, their upper midrange does not turn harsh.

Highs & Treble

The Yinyoo Topaz highs resolve a fairly-good amount of detail and offer a sufficiently bright experience that can fulfill most everyday listening sessions without issues.

Fair to note that due to their rolled-off top end these are not tuned for “trebleheads”.

Similar to it’s midrange, their highs and treble are tuned with a relaxed but not muddy sound that can please listeners enjoying gentle, non-fatiguing sound and who prefer a sound signature that does not get too aggressive nor boosted.

Their highs showed the same outstanding response to EQ as their midrange. With groundbreaking increment of brightness, detail and becoming a much more refined and open-sounding earphone yet showing no empowering of their piercing peaks.

Sound Leak

The sound leaking out of the Yinyoo Topaz is somewhat inline with most average headphones, making them usable on any normally noisy situation but not the best companion while in libraries.

Sound Isolation

The sound isolation provided by the Yinyoo Topaz is noticeably stronger than normal earphones with an easily reachable absolute isolation.

Comfort

The back diamond-like plate might seem as the Yinyoo Topaz has pointy or sharp edges. Instead, it’s design is smooth and curvy with no uncomfortable contours which as an overall result in an extremely pleasing and stable fit.

Moreover, the Topaz are able to provide a flush fit with the ears, making them a competent model to be used at bed or under helmets.

Response to Equalization

The response to EQ of the Yinyoo Topaz showed outstanding results over their midrange and vocals with remarkable improvement, as well as over their highs and treble brightness and detail.

The Yinyoo Topaz are excellent in-ear headphones offering a gentle and relaxed sound, which in a market saturated with V-shaped and aggressively tuned headphones it is nice and relatively difficult to find.

Listeners enjoying relaxed sessions with non-annoyingly sharp nor fatiguing/harsh sound will find a great companion with the Yinyoo Topaz.

Users with some knowledge with custom equalization can also, drastically, retune the Yinyoo's sound signature.
