Assembling the ELEGOO Saturn 4 ULTRA required less than 5 minutes, as the machine comes almost fully pre-assembled from factory.
Once unboxed, users will simply need to replace the resin tank’s screws, place the build bed/plate and connect the machine.
After connected, the machine will automatically enter a self-checking and calibration process to ensure the optimal operation of the printer.

The ELEGOO Saturn 4 ULTRA is part of the bigger 3D resin printers from the brand, with a printing volume of 218.88 x 122.88 x 220 mm³, this printer offers a substantially larger capacity than the ELEGOO Mars models but a bit smaller than the largest printers from the brand (ELEGOO Jupiter SE)
The ULTRA series are seen under the Mars and Saturn machines, which correspond to the flagship model of each corresponding family and include all the newest, cutting-edge tech from the brand.
Among the latest addition to the ELEGOO Saturn 4 ULTRA there is a way more usable shield/cover flip system that allows it to be opened with a single hand and remaining attached to the machine; this means that you will not need to find a spot to place the cover when removing it – this new flip cover was also added to the ELEGOO Saturn 4 (non-ULTRA)
Other design improvements include a quick release system for the printing bed, a new tank with dual spouts to ease-up the process of resin pouring and a detachable tray that protects the machine from resin dripping on the machine or LCD while removing the plate or pouring/removing the resin from the tank.
Probably one of the most useful additions is the AI camera that serves to have full control of the printing process through live-monitoring, alerts of printing issues and also can be used to create time-lapse videos of all the printing task, facilitating the content creation for videos to be shared online – at the end of this section you will see an example of a time-lapse video that we created with the ELEGOO Saturn 4 ULTRA.
Aesthetically, the ELEGOO Saturn 4 ULTRA has a rectangular form factor with a taller-than-wider shape and 4 hefty rubberized feet to keep it in place; shape-wise there is no difference with the Saturn 4 (non-ULTRA) but a clear way to identify each one at plain sight, is the color of the cover/shield, which is black in the Saturn 4 ULTRA and green on the non-ULTRA sibling – all ULTRA series use black covers (ELEGOO Saturn 3 ULTRA, ELEGOO Mars 4 ULTRA, etc.) , while non-ULTRA models tend to have red covers (ELEGOO Saturn 3 12K, ELEGOO Jupiter SE, etc.)
The time-lapse video that you are seeing is a heavily-compressed and size-reduced version of the original video created by the AI cam of the Saturn 4 ULTRA; the original video has a resolution/size of 720p.

On the bottom right edge of the front panel, you will find a vertically aligned display; this is a touch sensitive screen with capacitive tech and a diameter of 4 inches.
The display provides all the necessary tools, settings and menus to fully control the machine; such as:

In the Design section we mentioned some of the new features of the new ELEGOO Saturn 4 ULTRA, yet the most innovative tech added to this machine include a tilt-release mechanism for the tank, that allows faster and more efficient printing and plenty of sensors like:
• Resin Shortage
• Residue Detection
• Leveling Failure
• Temperature control/alarm
Resin and residue sensors were features that before could only be found on the top-tier Jupiter machines.
On top of that, ELEGOO has incorporated an automatic self-leveling system that takes complete care of the correct leveling of the build plate without any manual intervention, screws adjustments nor use of leveling cards.
In order to keep up with the rich-featured and fast performance, the ELEGOO Saturn 4 ULTRA runs on a self-developed OS powered by 8GB of RAM.
Internally, the machine is built with high-quality components such as a 9H hardness tempered glass that protects the LCD screen, 4 copper heat pipes plus a single fan to keep optimal control of the machine’s thermals and a COB light source + Fresnel collimating lens.
As a general build feel, the combination of metal and plastic external panels and the 14.5kg of weight make the printer to be perceived as a much more rugged and better machine than other printers on the market.

CONNECTIVITY

The ELEGOO Saturn 4 ULTRA has a built-in Wi-Fi module and an external antenna, allowing the machine to connect to your local 2.4G and 5G wireless connection.
In addition to this, the machine includes a USB-A port to plug-in Udisks with pre-sliced files.
Thanks to this dual connectivity options, users can use the printer either through the touch screen and files on a Udisk or gain access to real-time control of the machine through a WiFi connection and also gaining access to live-adjustments, statistics, status and even live, vide monitoring when using it with ChituBox.
When using the new ChituManager from ChituBox, the Saturn 4 ULTRA received wirelessly all sliced files directly in the machine and started the printing task with no connectivity issues nor failed file transmissions.

PERFORMANCE

The Saturn series of ELEGOO 3D printers have a sweet spot in size/printing volume that makes it much more versatile than the Mars series for single piece printing models or higher printing capacity while making use of either the wider area, vastier height and overall volume.
Nonetheless, the machine remains way more compact than the ELEGOO Jupiter printers.
Despite the friendly price, the ELEGOO Saturn 4 ULTRA boasts a remarkable printing resolution of 19×24μm(11520×5120) thanks to the 10-Inch 12K Mono LCD; this allowed all printing tests to result in perfect micro-details even for miniature printing.
The tilt-release system combined with the PFA release film and laser engraved plate, added up to one of the fastest printings speeds seen on a MSLA Resin 3D printer and also granted perfect bed adhesion and release. As a matter of fact, all our printing tests went through flawlessly without any failed print task nor need to re-run further printing attempts.
Regarding the printing speeds, the new ELEGOO Saturn 4 ULTRA can reach up to 150mm/h, making it more than two times faster than the previous ELEGOO Saturn 3. Moreover, these speeds can be obtained by simply setting the machine in Fast Print mode and with standard resins (thus, Fast Resins are no longer needed for the Saturn 4 ULTRA)
On real life tests and comparisons, the ELEGOO Saturn 4 ULTRA vs ELEGOO Saturn 3 printing times of the same design with a height of 216mm and set to their standard ChituBox profiles were finished in 12:29 hours for the Saturn 3 and just 7:17 hours for the Saturn 4 ULTRA.
As other live-tests of the printing speed difference with other models (same design, same 216mm tall print), we obtained:

As usual, with ELEGOO MSLA printers, the machine is very silent; so silent that you can easily leave the machine printing all night without disturbing your neighbors downstairs.
On a daily use, we greatly appreciated the easier management of the machine with the incorporated dual sprout resin tank that made is easier to remove the resin from the tank back to the resin bottle and also the removable resin tray that was a safety “insurance” against accidental resin dripping onto or into the machine.

The machine comes with multi-voltage PSU feeding 100-240V 50/60 Hz 24V 6A; thus resulting in a maximum power consumption of 144W.
This is a “hidden” upgrade from the previous generation (Saturn 3 ULTRA), which had a higher power consumption of 180W.
It is remarkable that the brand was able to incorporate all the further features and boosted performance while reducing the power consumption too.
