? The QCY Q29 Pro are fully wireless earphones at a super budget price but still backed up by a brand with a solid experience manufacturing Bluetooth earphones.
Long time ago we reviewed the QCY QY8
and resulted to be an outstanding bang for buck Bluetooth headset with a highly fun sounding style, after running the QCY Q29 Pro soundtests we will see how these fully wireless model performs.
QCY’s catalog include models such as the:
The QCY Q29 Pro features an 8 mm dynamic driver, 7 hours of battery life (3 hours of the earpieces + additional 4 hours from the battery case) or 12 hours in “Mono Mode”, a 4.2 Bluetooth version, a super small battery/charging case/dock and just 1 hour of charging time.
The housings have an oval shape similar to an olive and weight only 5.3 grams, the back plate of each earpiece is also a multi-function button that can be pressed on either side at will. Each earpiece has a tiny led that will let you know the status of the earphones and give you information about the battery like (low battery, charging, charged). The charging case is super small and nicely built with a partially translucent cover and is also a battery pack able to charge the earpieces on the go.
You will see that the model that we are reviewing has a “Pro” at the end of it’s name, this is because they are the 2nd version of the previously launched “non Pro” QCY Q29. By looking at their spec sheets one of the upgrades is referred to an updated Bluetooth v4.2 from the v4.1 of the older model, which must have improved their connectivity and stability of the signal.
The QCY Q29 Pro is 100% compatible with Android and Apple devices. The button on the earpieces it also compatible with audio players on your PC, notebook.

Advanced Features
The QCY Q29 Pro tech specs sheet names a 10 meters / 30 ft. connection, during our tests the range was achieved without much issues.
The QCY Q29 Pro features include advanced options such as:
- Stereo or Mono use – you can use one earpiece alone to use it as a mono earphone (or as a hands free headset) or both earpieces at the same time for stereo use.
- Ultra fast charging time of 1 hours for a full charge
- 12 hours of battery life in mono or 7 hours in stereo mode.

The single button placed on each earpiece of the QCY Q29 Pro allows you to do the following:
- A single press: Play, Pause music or Answer calls
- A 1 second press and hold: Power On
- 3 seconds press and hold while turned ON: Power off
- 2x Press: Skip to next song
Calls Commands:
- Single press: Answer call / end call
- 1 second press and hold, on incoming call: Reject call
- 1 second press and hold, during call: Switch audio output between cellphone and earbud
- 2x Press during call: Mute/un-mute call
Operation in Mono Mode:
- 5 seconds press and hold: Pairing mode
- A single press: Play, Pause music or Answer calls
- A 1 second press and hold: Power On
- 3 seconds press and hold while turned ON: Power off

Note about pairing the QCY Q29 Pro: It is very important to carefully follow the pairing instructions provided with the earphone as the first pairing steps are fundamental to a correct connection with your device and between each earpiece. Many owners think that their units have pairing issues but most of the times is just an incorrect procedure done by the user or a missed step. We recommend to follow the instructions found in the full manual instead of the white quick instructions. Unfortunately, there are some sound lag issues and frequent drop-outs that will be more or less noticeable depending on the device being paired to.

The QCY Q29 Pro unboxing results in 3 pair of eartips, a USB charging cable and the charging/battery hard case/pack. The packaging is the typical QCY one, like what we have seen while unboxing the QCY QY8.

Bass & Sub Bass
The QCY Q29 Pro has very strong punch and sufficiently deep sub-bass that will cover any genre’s bass requisites without struggling.
It is very important to let you know that you MUST fit them very deep inside your ears and ensure that you are getting a tight fit or their bass will not sound at it’s true potential, making their bass sound much more conservative and far less punchy and deep. Said so, if you are not getting a very energetic bass from them it means that you are not fitting them right.
Applying an EQ, their mid-bass and sub-bass gets insanely enhanced, even providing a very (very) mild rumble and impact but, do not expect a basshead level impact and rumble like the KZ ATE, Xiaomi Mi Pro HD or the KZ ZS6, Monoprice 8320, AUGLAMOUR RT-1, Elecom EHP-CA3580, Xiaomi Mi In-Ear Headphones Pro or the KZ ZSR; (compared to these earphones while using a Fiio E12 amplifier)

Mids & Vocals
The QCY Q29 Pro mids are very warm and cozy, lower mids can get somewhat overstepped by mid-bass at times but, still, lower vocals are able to sound energetic enough. Higher mids are a bit less rolled-off and do not reach harsh peaks. Overall their mids are smooth and non-fatiguing.
With an EQ there is a gigantic improvement of lower vocals and lower mids, making everything very noticeably clearer and strongly reducing mid-bass bleed. Higher mids also benefit from crispier sound. The EQ tip is to be aware of not overdoing it or you could start introducing some a bit of boxiness and harshness.

Highs & Treble
The QCY Q29 Pro has sufficiently detailed highs and some brightness that could be enough for non-audiophile listeners. Piercing and sibilant highs are not an issue with this QCY earphones. Overall their highs will be welcomed by users that prioritize non-piercing highs over brightness, also treble sensitive people will be glad of the non-fatiguing highs.
An EQ adds a crazy extra amount of detail to their highs and making their highs overall much more spacious and open. Sibilance and piercing highs remain under control and do not show up.

Sound Leak
The sound leaking out of the Q29 Pro is barely hearable at a moderate-high volume and 100% imperceptible by nearby people at a low or moderate volume.

Sound Isolation
The noise isolation of these QCY earphones is effective but not absolute, if you set a medium volume you will get a strong but partial isolation, on a lower volume you will be relatively aware of your surroundings.

Comfort
Despite not including “earwings” like the Jaybird Freedom or Jaybird X3 do, the QCY Q29 Pro with their rubberized inner housings section provides a safe and secure fit that will ensure that they do not slip off the ears. Having an oval shape, sort of an olive, allows you to rotate them while in your ears to find the snuggest and most comfortable fit for you.

Response to Equalization
The response to EQ was outstanding with huge improvement of their lower vocals, strong reduction of mid-bass bleed and crispier higher mids; bass became super punchy and deep reaching a mild rumble and impact; highs became much brighter and added a highly noticeable amount of extra detail while remaining absolutely free of piercing and sibilant highs.

To be honest, we were not expecting such a good performance from the tiny QCY Q29 Pro but our tests showed their potential and proved wrong our fears. Their ultra feather weight of just above 5 grams per earpiece makes them the 4th lightest earphone that we have reviewed placing them in the Lightest Earphones Chart and due to their smooth sound free of harshness, sibilance and piercing highs are now part of the Least Fatiguing Earphones Chart
The QCY Q29 Pro can be safely recommended to anybody looking for a truly wireless headset at a budget price. Moreover, people who enjoy fun sound with strong bass and want a fatigue-free and harsh-free earphone will be very happy with this model.
