ELEGOO Mercury Plus 3.0, the brand new 3D resin post-processing machine from ELEGOO.
The ELEGOO Mercury Plus 3.0 is part of the 3D resin wash and cure stations by the brand, joining the Mercury series as the newest model that was just released today.
In the past, we have reviewed all modern 3D resin printers (ELEGOO Saturn 4 Ultra (& non Ultra), ELEGOO Jupiter SE, ELEGOO Saturn 3 Ultra (also the classic 12K model), ELEGOO Mars 5 Ultra, ELEGOO Mars 4 ULTRA), Laser machines (ELEGOO PHECDA PRO) and, also, nearly all current 3D FDM printers from the brand (ELEGOO Neptune 4 MAX, 4 PLUS, 4 PRO). A common characteristic that has been inherited in every single machine from ELEGOO is a superb value for money and performance.
You might find the machine either named as ELEGOO Mercury Plus 3.0 or ELEGOO Mercury 3.0 Plus; both are the same machine.

To get the machine up and running, you will barely need any assembly; in fact, there is no assembly needed but just putting in place the module wanted according to the mode looking to use (wash or cure)

The ELEGOO Mercury Plus 3.0 is presented as a single machine with the functions of 2 separate post-processing ones, bundled in 1 single unit.
This new model from the Mercury series includes a dual modular top unit which you use accordingly to the needed function; the machine acts both as a washing and curing device for your 3D resin printers.
By positioning the transparent module (the one with the hermetic lid) you can use the ELEGOO Mercury Plus 3.0 as a washing device; instead, when you need to cure your resin prints, you will need to remove the washing module and install the rotating plate and UV cover.
As you can see from the photos, the UV cover has an amber color, being different from the yellow color used on older machines.
Also as you might have noticed, the curing module has now a capacity of 7500ml, making this the biggest washing and curing station from the brand – this also applies to the curing module as the dimension’s capabilities have been upgraded on both curing and washing.
As a point of reference, the ELEGOO Mercury Plus 3.0 is noticeably smaller than the ELEGOO Mars 5 ULTRA and also than CoreXY 3D printers like the Creality K1C.
To be more precise, the exact dimensions of the ELEGOO Mercury Plus 3.0 are 302.5mmx302.5mmx412.5mm with a weight of 4.7kg.
Regarding the washing and curing maximum size of 3D prints that you can fit, the new Mercury machine can handle up to 250mmx290mm prints for curing and 230mmx135mmx260mm for washing.
To reach the maximum capacity for curing you need to use it without the plate or the dimensions will be a bit lower.

OPERATION & CONTROL

The ELEGOO Mercury Plus 3.0 has an intuitive multi-button system that allows the full operation of the machine.
On the front lower panel you will 5 buttons sitting below a display screen; the display will show the time remaining while the buttons are used to set the station in washing or curing mode, set, add or subtract the running time and play/pause.
The display, as well as the buttons, are backlit and easily readable under any condition of light or total darkness.

CONSTRUCTION & BUILD

This wash and cure station has a form factor and shape similar to many 3D printers from the brand but you should not expect neither the hefty weight seen on 3D printers nor any metal-constructed pieces; the machine is mostly made of plastic, including the external case and shell, up to the UV cover, basket, bucket, turntable, brackets and also the “towers” that hold the UV LED lights inside.
Nonetheless, the machine does not feel flimsy nor overly fragile and it is well appreciated that it keeps a light-weighted core, as while washing you will add 7.5l (around 7.5kg) of extra weight by the filled up cleaning bucket with a cleaning solution.

VERSATILITY

The washing module has a friendly system were users can opt to place the prints alone inside the “bucket” or with the basket for easier removal.
On top of that, this module comes with adjustable brackets to, also, allow users to place the printing bed with the prints still adhered to it – as these are adjustable, you can fit any printing bed from ELEGOO 3D resin printers, from the smaller ELEGOO Mars series, mid-sized Saturn series or even the largest ELEGOO Jupiter machines.

PERFORMANCE

Performance-wise, the ELEGOO Mercury Plus 3.0 was straightforward and efficient, getting the job done with much more ease than it would be needed if done manually.
For the curing process, the UV strip lights were strong and evenly spread across the full chamber, covering any tiny, mid or huge prints without any hassle; while the automatic turntable was smooth to ensure a full 360 coverage buy the dual strip UV light towers and mirrors and powerful enough to move the print without fatigue (even for non-hollowed prints)
When washing, the Mercury presented a strong centrifugal force to keep the washing solution always circling around and ensuring pristine cleaning results and fully getting rid of any resin residue. In fact, all the print tests that went through the ELEGOO Mercury Plus 3.0 came out the cleanest that we had ever got by washing manually and needing no further post-washing by hand.
The only point that we could “criticize” would be the fact that, despite being the biggest washing/curing station from the brand, the size of prints that it can handle it is still not as large as to fit a full-size print from the ELEGOO Jupiter series (like the ELEGOO Jupiter SE) – which is a pity as it is just a few cm away of reaching it.
As a matter of fact, we re-printed the Angel sculpture we used for the Jupiter SE but we did it with the ELEGOO Saturn 4 ULTRA and downsizing it to be able to fit inside the ELEGOO Mercury Plus 3.0.
For the washing station, the print was needed to lay flat in order to be better covered by the alcohol (cleaning solution) but as you can see from our photos, the Angel sculpture print had no issue fitting inside the curing station.
We then proceeded to print other 2 models that we used in past reviews (and again re-printed in a size fir for the ELEGOO Mercury Plus 3.0), this time we cleaned each piece independently but then did a trial of fitting all 3 prints together for curing and, again as you can see from the photos, the 3 large prints had more than enough room to be placed and cured at the same time.
Despite this, if you want the best optimal curing, you should not place many prints together as they could potentially not get the full UV curing light as efficiently as it would get to each of them if cured alone.
Another detail to point out is that, unlike on other Mercury machines, the ELEGOO Mercury Plus 3.0 does not include the handheld UV lamp but it does have a connector for it; so, if you happen to own already one or are looking forward to buy one, you can use it with the ELEGOO Mercury Plus 3.0.

POWER CONSUMPTION

If you are power-conscious or are worried about keeping your electricity bill under control, you will be thrilled by the ELEGOO Mercury Plus 3.0, as the dual machine has a maximum rated power of 60W and it is mostly always below those 60W on real-life use.
