The FUNSNAP CAPTURE 2 unboxing results in a hard carrying/storage case, a soft neoprene pouch, a GoPro adapter, a counter weight add-on for unbalancedly-heavy smartphones, a micro USB charging cable and a 3-legged removable support.
The gimbal comes very well-protected by the hard case and inside a clean looking, rectangular packaging with a mainly white design.

Design
The FUNSNAP CAPTURE 2 has a monotone design with a dark grey finish and semi-textured feel.
The device has a classic gimbal form factor but with plenty buttons and controls placed on the main handling section.
The low-key profile allows it to be less-flashy than other competitors, thus allowing it to be used without attracting the attention on risky situations.
The FUNSNAP CAPTURE 2 measures: 29.5cm x 11.3 cm x 7.2 cm and approximately weights 500 grams.
The small size and light weight of this particular gimbal will make it easier to carry than many other options available on the market.

Operation & Control
The FUNSNAP CAPTURE 2 has 4 buttons, a joystick and a rotating wheel control that can take full control of the main options of the gimbal.
The wheel itself is also a button that can be pressed to access further functions.
Overall, the gimbal has all their buttons and controls placed perfectly to be accessed with a single hand and without having to excessively stretch any finger to reach all buttons.
The button’s function of the FUNSNAP CAPTURE 2 allow to:

Light indicators
The Funsnap Capture 2 has 2 light indicators placed above the joystick to inform the status of the device and stabilization mode.
The light on the upper left corner is dedicated to the battery status while the right-sided one is a specific light indicator for the gimbal’s modes.
Sound indicators
The gimbal has sound indicators to confirm when the device is turned on, turned off or when a balancing/motor problem happens.
Despite the affordable price, the FUNSNAP CAPTURE 2 is able to offer ergonomics and a variety of controls that can be found on semi-professional gimbals such as the Zhiyun Crane 2.

Battery Life
The FUNSNAP CAPTURE 2 holds a two 18650 LiB rechargeable batteries of 2200mAh each and a estimated working time of 12 hours.
Reaching up to 12 hours, this gimbal’s battery life is placed as one of the longer lasting gimbals on the market and will be more than enough than provide several days of intense filming, timelapse, hyperlapse or photo shootings.
How to charge the FUNSNAP CAPTURE 2:
The FUNSNAP CAPTURE 2 is charged through the micro USB port that is placed on the front of the gimbal.
Fully charging the device takes around 2.5 hours through an USB charger able to provide sufficient output power.

Construction & Build
The main body of the FUNSNAP CAPTURE 2 is made of plastic with no rubberized grip sections.
Despite this, the wheel control has a rubberized ring to improve the use of it while the joystick and the front button have a textured finish that make it less slippery.
In addition to the main bottom’s body, most of the axis main sections are made of metal which ensures that these parts can support the use and worn over time.
The bottom of the gimbal has a metal 1/4” screw that allows it to be placed on tripods and photo/video accessories and, also, to attach the bundled 3-legged base.
Overall, we find the Funsnap Capture 2 to have a sufficiently durable feel and a good balanced between fairly good-build and light weight.

Ease of Use
The FUNSNAP CAPTURE 2 will be a piece of cake to operate by previous owners of gimbals and pretty intuitive for first-time users, after a quick learning curve and practice.
Part of the features that make it extremely easy to use include the multi-buttons layout and separate buttons functions combined with the super smooth balancing system.
The only part the will make this gimbal a bit more time consuming, will be the GoPro placement and balancing.

Compatibility
The FUNSNAP CAPTURE 2 is fully compatible with nearly any smartphone on the market due to it’s clamp that can stretch from 55 to 90mm – the maximum payload is 250 grams.
Moreover, this clamp can be rotated 90 degrees in any direction to either place the phone vertically or fit smartphones with less-common dimensions.
Furthermore, the gimbal includes a metal plate that can be stuck to the right end of the gimbal’s axis. This metal plate is an optional add-on that enable to add a counter weight for the correct balancing of smartphones that are too heavy on the upper-end.
In addition to this, the Funsnap Capture 2 comes bundled with a GoPro adapter (the model with the adapter needs to be bought) to combine the action cam with the gimbal’s stabilization – the brand specifies that the adapter is compatible with the GoPro 4, GoPro 5, GoPro 6 and GoPro 7.
Despite the compatibility with only GoPro cameras, we were able to fit other brands of action cams such as SJCAM, Gitup (and various other action cams) but semi-advanced DIY skills and adaptation needed to be done.
A very nice addition of the Funsnap Capture 2 is that the main stabilization functions and modes will work out-of-the-box without necessarily need to be used with the Capture2 app. Nonetheless, using it with the app is highly recommended to benefit of the advanced functions and full potential of the gimbal.

Connectivity
This Funsnap gimbal has a micro USB port that is uses exclusively for it’s battery charging and is also Bluetooth enabled to pair and connect it to the Capture2 app.
Wired connections for operation of the app is not available but we found that the Bluetooth connection was quite smooth and never got disconnected while being in use.

Performance
Putting the FUNSNAP CAPTURE 2 through our stress tests and normal use test, the gimbal showed excellent stabilization capability and responsiveness.
The Funsnap Capture 2 has many features of industry-leading semi-pro gimbals for Pro cameras like zoom wheel control, multi-directional joystick, manual pan/tilt control and sports mode.
Additionally, the motor’s speed can be adjusted with up to a maximum speed of 5 degrees per second.
Stabilization Modes
The Funsnap Capture 2 offers 6 stabilization modes that can cover most of the modes available on semi-pro gimbals.
- Full follow
- Pitch follow
- FPV
- Lock: When in lock mode, the gimbal was able to keep up with a smooth and accurate locking of the position when activated. Moreover, through the app the Funsnap gimbal could benefit from face locking and object locking functions with good results.
- PhoneGo (Action/Sport): By setting the front trigger to PhoneGo mode and keeping it pressed, the gimbal will activate a sports/action mode with fast-reacting, fully following mode that was able to keep up with every extreme and sudden moves that we tested. The motors reaction will be more than enough to follow your pets, friends while practicing sports or fast paced situations.
- Auto horizontal/vertical mode rotation: When the gimbal is rotated nearly 90 degrees to a side the gimbal will autodetect and enter the vertical mode for a better video aspect ratio for Instagram stories or posts
Gimbals require the correct mode selection that adapts to the movements, movement compensation and stabilization desired – this is one of the fundamental decision for optimal results.
Users that have some experience with the most common modes of gimbals on the market will feel at home with the stabilization mode and operation of the Funsnap gimbal and will be able to achieve impressive results with smooth transitions through panning, rotating, tilting and while recording videos while walking.
First time users will need to familiarize with the gimbals fundamentals, terms and operation to get the best results. Yet, the gimbal does an impressive job delivering phenomenally stabilized videos with, even, the operation of inexperienced users and right out of the box with little to no practice involved.
Balancing
Balancing any smartphone on the FUNSNAP Capture 2 was extremely easy, by simply sliding the phone until it stays well-balanced.
The balancing procedure is far from being time-consuming and complicated as on semi-pro gimbals like the DJI Ronin-S or Zhiyun Crane 3 LAB, instead it will be user-friendly and will involve minor effort.
GoPro Adapter
When used with GoPro cams, the FUNSNAP CAPTURE 2 performed as flawlessly as with smartphones but the balancing process might take more time.
In addition to this, we were even able to use it with other action cam brands but some DIY skills were needed to adapt them.
The gimbal’s main drawback was when entering the vertical mode, which had a much more limited range of movement before the auto-sensors perceive the tilting, panning or rotating movements as pronounced as to re-enter the horizontal mode.
It is fair to highlight that as with every gimbal, balancing is essential for a correct gimbal use and performance.
