The name of this watch refers to “Special Edition”, indeed the KOSPET Prime SE belongs to the Prime series of the brand, preceded by non-SE version.

Moreover, the PRIME SE smartwatch provides 16GB of ROM and LPDDR3 RAM technology.

The sacrifices that the brand needed to apply to cut-off the price of the Kospet Prime SE vs Kospet Prime were a reduction of 2GB of RAM and half ROM capacity but, incredibly, the brand is still offering the same powerful CPU, screen resolution & size, battery capacity, build, size and design.

Design

At plain sight, the KOSPET PRIME SE looks identical to the KOSPET PRIME (non-SE version). Indeed, both models use the exact same housings but with slightly different internal components.

The watch is larger than many average smartphones on the market with a hefty body thickness and prominent size that makes it look and feel very “manly”

Despite the large size, the Kospet PRIME SE does not feel oversized nor ridiculously looking; instead, the brand has done a very good job combining it with a clean, smooth and classy finish and overall aesthetics.

Operation & Control

Despite the cutoff in tech specs against the higher-tier models from Kospet, the KOSPET PRIME SE is able to keep up with normal everyday use such as navigation of menus, opening apps and keeping multi-tasking within reasonable; showing a very usable experience.

UI and navigation show no lag nor stuttering and nearly no difference was seen against the more expensive Kospet Prime (non SE version)

The full operation and control of this smartwatches is handled through the multi-touch screen and two large, pill-shaped buttons that sit on the right edge of the unit.

This big-sized buttons are very easy to press and find in any given circumstance; even when wanting to reach them beneath a shirt or pullover.

In addition to this, the touch-sensitive screen is equipped with gestures compatibility, bringing a further layer of usability and fast operation of the watch.

Battery Life

The Kospet Prime SE might come with a lower ROM capacity and less RAM than it’s bigger sibling, yet this much cheaper model is still bundled with the same huge 1260mAh battery – that (to date) sit’s as the biggest battery capacity offered on any other Kospet watch (alongside with the KOSPET Prime non-SE)

With normal usage (including frequent WiFi, some Bluetooth use and sporadic GPS) the phone was able to handle more than 1 full day without needing to be recharged.

With a more conservative use, or using it solely as a watch and notification device for your smartphone, the unit was able to surpass 2 days of use without much issues.

Charging: The KOSPET PRIME SE is part of the newest generation of smartwatches from the brand, which have been upgraded to a new charging system combined with a much more usable charging cradle than older models.

To charge the unit, owners will need to plug the back of the phone to the magnetically-attaching connectors of the cradle – the cradle needs to be plugged to an USB charged through the included cable.

Construction & Build

The KOSPET PRIME SE is a watch that can be defined as “build like a tank” with it’s ceramic bezels and rugged feel.

As soon as the unit is hold in the hands, the quality materials and durable sensation can be immediately recognized.

As a matter of fact, the combination of materials used to construct the unit are far from flimsy and quite unexpected against other smartwatches with a similar price tag.

People with tiny wrists could feel the size and weight of this watch a bit overwhelming or unbalancedly-looking with the size of their wrists – though, this will a very subjective decision.

App

The KOSPET PRIME SE is a full smartwatch that can gain further functionalities when paired with a smartphone through the Wiiwatch2 app – this is the exact same app used by every other smartwatch phone from Kospet. As so, the app has gained some infamous reputation for their limited customization options and design.

Despite this, this watch does not depend on the app to make use of nearly 90% of all it’s functionalities (not even firmware upgrades)

Camera

The Kospet Prime SE is a dual-camera watch, with a side main camera and a front-facing secondary camera.

Both the front-facing and main camera can either take photos or record videos; which makes it very useful to enable video calls, vlogging or shooting photos/videos of your trip.

The main camera has a 8MP resolution offered by a 5MP sensor and an interpolated image, while the front-facing camera is a lower resolution supplementary alternative.

In comparison, the main camera will offer a much wider field of view and more detailed image with better lower-light capabilities while the front facing camera provides a tighter framing.

Speaker

A speaker is placed on the edge of the watch that allows to listen to music, carry phone calls or watch videos without the need of any Bluetooth-enabled earphones.

As well, the speaker will reproduce notification sounds, phone calls ringtones on incoming calls or any other set sound notification, alerts, alarms, navigation indications, etc.

This speaker, proved to be loud and very hearable on many commuting situations. Though, of course, you might miss some sound alerts on very noisy environments, the device has a vibrating motor for alerts, calls and notifications that is quite strong.

Firmware

Whenever a new firmware is released by Kospet, the PRIME SE will be able to be upgraded through the Wiiwatch2 app or even standalone with OTA transmission through the settings of the watch itself.
