? KZ DQ6, the newest all-dynamic driver earphone from the brand.
Some years ago, this was the most common driver configuration when talking about multi-driver earphones; yet the past 3 to 4 years has unleashed a new trend with hybrid earphones and the “classic” all-dynamic driver offerings started to fade away.
The KZ DQ6 brings back this DD design with a triple driver configuration including a dual-magnetic 10mm driver for bass and 2x 6mm single-magnetic drivers for mids and highs.
The unit’s main housing is made of resin while the back plate is a zinc-alloy single piece with a small, elongated grill placed on the narrow end of it – as every other KZ earphone with detachable cables, the KZ DQ6 makes use of the bi-pin connector design (specifically the qdc style and not the TFZ compatible one)

The KZ DQ6 comes packed in the typical small, rectangular box of many modern KZ earphones.
Inside, the unit comes bundled with the detachable bi-pin cable and 3 pair of eartips (yet, it is fair mentioning that the quality of the eartips is substantially inferior to other eartips provided with older KZ models)

Bass & Sub Bass
The KZ DQ6 bass is fairly balanced with, yet, a punchier than deeper profile.
Mid-bass can provide as much punch as needed for any kind of genre while, still, being able to keep bounciness and bleed in place.
Sub-bass can get sufficiently deep as to fulfill the requirements of most modern tracks but will not provide the right extension for bassheads nor for sub-bass centered songs.
Most users without a particular need for head-rattling sub-bass notes will be more than ok with the lower frequency’s performance of the KZ DQ6.
With an EQ, their less-emphasized sub-bass can be pushed for a deeper response with excellent results (an EQ capable of reaching sub-bass is needed).

Mids & Vocals
The KZ DQ6 has a full and warm midrange with respectably controlled mid-bass bleed.
Male vocals, mostly always, sound alive and without getting overstepped by low frequencies.
Overall, the lower midrange shows an agreeable sound that does not get affected by any excessive congestion.
Upper mids and female vocals offer a crisp, yet never harsh sound that gives female vocals a present but not overwhelming effect.
Using an EQ, the midrange of the DQ6 can be fine-tuned to provide a cleaner lower midrange without losing warmth; we do not recommend messing up their upper midrange as it can be easily start to show harshness when “over-EQ’ing”

Highs & Treble
Highs of the KZ DQ6 can be defined as smooth with a slightly darkish tint, at times.
Overall, highs and treble on the DQ6 show a pleasant sound that is able to provide sufficient brightness and acceptable detail for casual listening.
Despite the “darkish tint” mentioned at the beginning of this section, the KZ DQ6 are far from being a dark earphone; instead we refer at it as a bit darker yet significantly smoother sounding model from the brand, in comparison to most of the treble-boosted options offered by KZ.
Nonetheless, is fair to highlight that the KZ DQ6, still, exhibit some sibilance and piercing highs – though, piercing peaks are far less frequent and way milder than the sibilance shown.

Sound Leak
The leakage of the DQ6 will be, mildly, heard by nearby people when cranking up the volume to the max and on situation that are less-noisy than usual.
On a normally busy city (rare nowadays) their leakage will be more than acceptable without disturbing anyone nearby.

Sound Isolation
With a deep and tight fit, the KZ DQ6 is capable of providing a phenomenal level of passive isolation by simply wearing them (even without music playing); expect a level of isolation way stronger than most average headphones.

Comfort
The form factor of the KZ DQ6 has a stronger relation with the KZ SA08 and KZ ASF than to the KZ SAX, KZ EDX, KZ ZSN PRO/KZ ZSN PRO X or KZ ZST/KZ ZST X; which proves to offer a much better overall experience regarding fit and comfort.
The curvy shapes and custom-like design gives the KZ DQ6 an outstanding level of stability and an excellently comfortable fit (for most normal-sized ears)

Response to Equalization
The DQ6 showed a very good response to EQ with significant effect over all frequencies while not showing any drastic SQ cons.
