This TWS is equipped with very large 14.2mm dynamic driver, a Qualcomm QCC3040 chip with aptX compatibility, noise cancelling mics for phone calls (cVC 8.0) and the latest generation of Bluetooth (v5.2) to provide a more stable and optimized wireless transmission.

Bass & Sub Bass

By design, earbud shaped headphones suffer from bass loss, yet somehow the SOUNDPEATS TrueAir2 shows a more prominent and punchy bass than many normal earbuds.

Users can expect a fun mid-bass that will fulfill the requirements of most modern genres without issues.

For sub-bass orientated listeners and bassheads, their sub-bass extension will probably not cover their lower extension’s thirst. Nonetheless, as with it’s mid-bass, the sub-bass of the TrueAir2 can get sufficiently deep for many popular tracks.

Using an EQ unleashed an unexpected amount of bass boosting that was felt over it’s sub-bass but even more over it’s mid-bass punchiness.

Mids & Vocals

The SOUNDPEATS TrueAir2 have a, decisively, warm midrange profile.

The lower midrange exhibits a cozy feel that combines well with calm and intimate male vocals for relaxed music sessions – yet it is fair to note that their lower mid end does exhibit some congestion.

Coherently with it’s lower mids, the upper midrange presents a smooth and non-aggressive tuning that does not show any harshness issues while still being able to provide sufficient crispness and avoid overly-muddy female vocals.

With an EQ, their overall mids can be pushed for a cleaner and bit more refined sound without showing boxyness nor adding any harsh peaks.

Highs & Treble

Highs and treble on the TrueAir2 have a darkish tuning with a similarly relaxed tendency as their midrange but that does not achieve the same level of balance as their mids.

This model will exhibit a lower amount of detail and brightness for more demanding listeners; casual listeners could appreciate the less-peaking tuning if they are ok with the darker flavor.

Said so, this TWS does rarely shows fatiguing spikes, where sibilance could be more noticeable than piercing peaks.

Sound Isolation

As with any earphone with an earbud design, strong sound isolation is not to be expected.

Indeed, the SOUNDPEATS TrueAir2 offer the same degree of isolation as any other average earbud on the market.

This means, that users will have a partial perception of the environment while reaching absolute isolation will require cranking the volume to the top.

On the other hand, this might be a positive feature for people who expressly look to have some awareness of their environment.

The TrueAir2 have a earbud styled design instead of a in-ear headphone design; form factor that can provide a positive advantage over in-ears, for people that feel in-ears to be too intrusive.

As mentioned during the intro of this SOUNDPEATS TrueAir2 review; this TWS offers touch-enabled controls with a touch sensitive surface on the back of the earpiece that allows users to fully control all main commands, calls and even volume up and down.

In addition to this, the in-case fit is snappy and secure, ensuring that the charging contacts are always in place with no false nor wobbly connections.

Response to EQ

A carefully crafted EQ can easily unleash a much stronger bass or used to retune it’s midrange with great results but highs and treble will struggle to provide a drastic retuning by an EQ..
