? The CCA CA16 is a new model that has been released in the recent time.
If you are a CCA earphone’s fan, you could get confused with the naming of this one as it is very similar to an older model that was called CCA C16.
Despite the small naming difference, the CCA CA16 and CCA C16 are totally different models.
The CCA CA16 features an hybrid configuration with 8 drivers inside each earpiece, formed by 7 balanced armature drivers and a 7mm dynamic driver.
The specific drivers inside each shell are: 3x 30095 high-frequency BA, 4x 50024 mid-frequency BA and a dual-magnetic dynamic driver for lower frequencies.
The housings of the CA16 are nearly-fully made of plastic with the exception of the nozzles section that are build in metal.
If you are not into black colors for your headphones, you will not have a lucky day with this one as it is only offered in black.

Accessories & Packaging
The CCA CA16 comes inside a small, rectangular box with a construction quality a bit more rugged than similarly sized and designed packagings.
On the other hand, the CCA CA16 falls short in the amount and variety of accessories included by providing just 2 pair of eartips and the corresponding detachable cable – yet, users will have the option to choose the bundled cable with or without an inline remote/control.

Bass & Sub Bass
The CCA CA16 exhibits mid-bass that is certainly punchy and will add a fun touch to music listening sessions but, unfortunately, it can risk to sound too boosted on some genres.
At the same time, the general lower frequencies of the CA16 presents a much more mid-bass heavy personality than it’s sub-bass depth capability.
This does not mean that the sub-bass of the CCA CA16 will sound like an over-ear, open-back headphone but it will feel punchy and boomy while rolling-off on the lower end.
With an EQ, their lower frequencies can be better balanced by adding a substantial empowering of it’s sub-bass depth.
Through out our extreme basshead tests, the CCA CA16 handled 35% of the maximum power coming from our FiiO amp. After this, the CA16 offered a radical boosting of both mid and sub-bass, granting a much more basshead-tuned response but will not reach any decent rumble nor impact.

Mids & Vocals
The CCA CA16 has a very warm overall midrange, with male and lower-pitched that might tend to sound laid back.
Due to this richly-warm mids personality, the CCA CA16 does exhibit mid-bass bleed and a busier lower-mids response than other multi-driver in-ear monitors.
Higher mids start to separate from this bass-bleeding effect but with an upper-midrange tuning that is balanced towards a more recessed than forward style, they follow the same “congest-ish” feel.
Truly, we were not expecting this tuning for an IEM with this driver configuration.
A finely crafted EQ can help to improve their baseline mids but there were no groundbreaking effects.

Highs & Treble
The same powerful warmth that took ownership of their mids, shows a definitive effect over their highs and treble, as well. Which, consequently, makes them dark and not very detailed.
The CCA CA16’s sound signature is perfectly described with a word that you have seen many times in this review: warmth.
Once again, this is not a typical sound signature of a headphone with this amount and kind of drivers.
People concerned about fatiguing peaks, the CCA CA16 rarely shows any piercing spikes but sibilance can frequently and intensively arise.

Sound Leak
The sound leaking out of the CCA CA16 is inline with most normal headphones, making it an usable model for daily commuting and everyday situations without having to worry about being obnoxiously loud.

Sound Isolation
The sound isolation provided by the CCA CA16 far exceeds the capability of most average headphones.
A substantial partial isolation from the environment will be noticed right away. Furthermore, the CCA CA16 offers a great baseline to reach absolute isolation with ease.

Comfort
The CCA CA16 has a form factor and shells design have a strong resemblance with the KZ Z1, KZ ZS3E, KZ ZS4; which are all models that have proven to grant a superbly tight and secure fit to withstand any kind of activities.
Even, the construction material and weight feels inline with the above-mentioned models.
It is worth noting, though, that the housings will be larger than some other IEMs like the: TRN VX, BLON BL-05.

EQ
Response to Equalization
Unfortunately, the CCA CA16 had to many ranges that would had needed a complex EQ to retune them.
Nonetheless, specific “partial-fixing” can be achieved to overcome some sound flaws exhibited out of the box.
